Ben Affleck’s Batman journey has reportedly come to an end as the writer-director of the next film, Matt Reeves is now set to show a young Batman in place of an ageing superhero that Affleck that was cast as.
According to an LA-based entertainment website, the next bat crusader will be a younger iteration of the billionaire superhero. Matt Reeves has reportedly turned in a draft of his script over Memorial Day weekend.
This story also sprouts from the fact that a Batman standalone film that was supposed to be directed, produced and starred in by Affleck also sees no light at the end of the tunnel. In December 2016, Affleck was optimistic about the future of the project, but it all changed in the follow-up interview when his spirits regarding the film were down and he was quoted saying: “It’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great, I’m not going to do it.”
In 2017, the star announced that he would no longer direct the project and will solely focus on producing and acting.
In a statement, he said, “Performing this role demands focus, passion, and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.”
